I want to write for the magazine, how do I go about this?

The first step is to read the contributor’s guidelines, which can be found here. These guidelines will help you craft an effective pitch and have details of how to contact us.

To give yourself the best chance of being featured in Happiful magazine, or online, make sure that you have read previous issues, understand our voice, and the type of content that we publish.

Do you pay contributors?

We do pay established writers contributing features to the magazine. For new writers, payment will be judged on a case by case basis.

I've sent Happiful a pitch but haven't heard back.

We receive a large number of pitches every day, but do endevour to reply to every one of them eventually. To allow us enough time to fully consider your idea, please wait one week before sending a follow up.

I want to write a True Story, what do I do next?

First, have a look at previously published True Stories, such as Henrietta's, Sarah's, or Eleanor's to get an idea of the type of story, structure, and tone of these pieces. If you think this is something that you want to do for us, send us a brief outline of your story to [email protected], and we will be in touch shortly.

Do you pay for True Stories?

In order to maintain the authenticity of our True Stories, we do not pay for these.

I work for an amazing organisation, will you write about us?

Happiful regularly features charities, non-profit organisations, and social enterprises that are doing good in the world. If you work for an organisation making a change for the better, please send us a press release to [email protected]

Do Happiful accept advertisements and product reviews?

This is judged on a case by case basis, however, all advertisements have to be relevant to mental health and our mission to create a healthier, happier society.

I know someone who’s doing something amazing, and I think you should write about them!

If you know someone who’s doing something amazing for their local community, you can nominate them for our monthly unsung hero award. To do this, simply send us an email with some background on your unsung hero to [email protected]
